Case Study - Bisham

Bisham National Sports Centre
BishamBisham Abbey is a Centre of Excellence for Sport in the UK and has state of the art facilities for Sport, Training, and Sports Injury treatment. Regular visitors included both National and Premier Teams and Internationally recognised sports men and women. In 2004 the national contractor cleaning the site had serious staffing problems, no visible supervision, and repeated absence. This left too few staff doing excessive hours with resulting poor standards. There also appeared to be little interest from the management.  The contract, in three parts, was put out to tender.

The Busybee surveyor quickly identified the issues with the client and proposed the following solutions prior to winning the contract.

Busybee Solution
Due to the complexity of the site the operational and sales teams agreed that there should be dedicated areas of responsibility for Offices, Sports facilities, Changing rooms and Toilets. There were also Injury and Physio clinics than needed dedicated staff. Due to the high daily usage of the facilities the cleaning was put on a late shift of after 8pm until 11.30pm.

The new supervisor appointed was given sufficient time to inspect the site, as well as a small cleaning shift, and manages the on-site communication diary. The Busybee policy of allocating local managers to contracts also helped build sound links with the client. Monthly visits as part of the Quality Assurance programme were supplemented by combined Customer Surveys and Questionnaires to check that the end users were satisfied with the facilities.

This close working relationship has now extended to joint co-operation on Health Safety processes.
